Joel Myers Jr Picks Up Second Consecutive Second Place Finish at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Joel Myers Jr continued to run extremely well at Placerville Speedway as he backed up last Saturday’s second place run with another runner up result during fan appreciation night.

“We had a really good car on Saturday night, but Kaleb Montgomery was a little better than us on the long run and did a great job to grab the win,” Joel Myers Jr said. “We had a couple shots, but things didn’t work out in our favor, but still it was another great result for our team.”

Myers Jr came out of the gate red hot as he timed in second fastest amongst the 31 cars checked into the pit area aboard his All About Fire Protection/High-Plains Building Division/DirtDudes Excavating backed No. 46Jr.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, ‘Jr’ was quick to jump into third as he gave chase to the lead duo of Chance Grasty and Shane Hopkins. Getting into second, Myers Jr and Hopkins would swap the top position in an entertaining battle for two laps before Myers settled back into second.

Hanging on to finish second, Myers Jr was solidly in the feature event and by way of his qualifying efforts he also earned a position into the Top-Eight redraw.

Lining up fifth in the 25-lap finale, Myers Jr nailed his start as he made a couple of swift moves to immediately overtake second. Closing in on Kaleb Montgomery, Myers Jr would take a look at the race lead on a pair of occasions as the lead duo jockeyed around the speedway for position.

Getting into traffic, Myers Jr kept Montogmery in striking distance, but a caution would take the leaders out of traffic and give them clear track. The ensuing restart saw Montgomery get away from Myers Jr, but the Sebastopol, CA driver continued to hit his marks and be patient as traffic would again enter the equation.

In the closing laps of the 25-lap affair, dense traffic would clog the track and it would allow Myers to close in on Montgomery as his lead evaporated. While Montgomery was able to get through traffic and keep Myers behind him things would heat up coming to the checkered.

With cars racing two wide ahead of the leaders, Myers Jr gave a list ditch effort, but on this night it was Kaleb Montgomery beating him to the checkered flag.

“It was a fun night, and I am really happy with the speed we have had in our 360ci with a lot of big 360ci races coming up as we get into the end of the Summer and into the Fall,” Myers Jr said. “Thanks to Cody, my Dad, and all of our partners for ther hard work and continued support.”
