PETERSEN MEDIA: Running with the IRA on Saturday and Sunday night, Joel Myers Jr and Hayward Motorsports performed very well as they charged to 12th to win on Saturday night at Plymouth Dirt Track and backed it up with a dominant win at The Hill Raceway on Sunday night.
“Things have been going very well for our team the last few weeks and it is pretty cool to get two more wins for Brodie Hayward and this team,” Joel Myers Jr said.
Checking in at Plymouth Dirt Track on Wisconsin for the county fair race on Saturday night, Myers got the night kicked off by timing the Shiti Coolers/Eddie Gilstrap Motorsports backed No. 19H entry in 16th fastest.
Winning the last time he checked into Plymouth Dirt Track, Myers didn’t fret as he had a strong showing in his heat race and charged from second after starting in the outside of the third row.
Lining up 12th in the feature event, Myers Jr was patient as he methodically worked his way forward. Moving into the Top-Five on a restart on the 11th lap, the Sebastopol, CA driver continued to work his way forward.
Racing into second on the 14th lap, Meyers Jr made his move in heavy traffic on the 16th lap as he surged into the race lead. Leading early laps, battle for the top spot picked up with 10-laps left in the race and Meyers Jr found himself in the second position for five laps.
Powering back into the lead on the 26th lap, Myers Jr never looked backed as he led the final five laps and scored his ninth feature event win of 2024.
Sunday night the scene shifted to Sturgeon Bay, WI as the IRA invaded The Hill Raceway.
Making his first ever laps at the track, Myers Jr got the night underway by timing in 10th fastest in time trials. Lining up on the pole of his heat race, he powered to the win and earned a berth in the nightly dash.
Winning Dash No. 2, Myers Jr was on the front row of the feature event as he looked to pull off the weekend sweep and notch his 10th win of the season.
When the green flag dropped, Myers Jr got a great jump as he powered into the race lead. Out front, Myers Jr could only be slowed once he got into traffic. Despite changing his pace at times to navigate traffic, the California native went on to lead every lap and cap off the weekend sweep.
“It was a really good weekend, and I am continuing to figure these cars out and I’m continuing to get comfortable,” Joel Myers added.
