Joey Saldana 8th at Angell Park Speedway

A - Joey 3

PETERSEN MEDIA- Venturing to the Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, WI for the first ever World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event at the historic facility, Joey Saldana would record his 52nd Top-10 finish of the season.

“It was a decent night for us, but we can always be better,” Joey Saldana said. “It was neat little place that was pretty small and tight, and it got to be technical.”

Having mechanical issues on Tuesday night at the Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE, Saldana came out on Sunday night and laid down a great lap during time trials that would end up fourth fastest on the speed chart.

Lining the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Roth Investments No. 83 machine up on the front row of his heat race, Saldana would pick up the important win and earn a spot in the night’s Dash.

A fifth place finish in the Craftsman Club Dash would place the Brownsburg, IN driver in the third row for the 40-lap Corn Fest feature event. As the race came to life, Saldana would work around the bottom of the speedway as he battled in the Top-Five with the likes of Brad Sweet and David Gravel.

With an array of cautions plaguing the flow of the race, Saldana would soon feel pressure from Jason Johnson for the fifth spot. As the duo continued to swap spots, thick lapped traffic would become a factor and Saldana would end up losing the spot to Jonson.

As traffic worsened, Saldana would then find himself racing with the charging duo of Logan Schuchart and Shane Stewart. Dense traffic would play a role in this battle as slower cars forced the trio to simply go where there was open real estate.

In the closing rounds of Corn Fest, Saldana would slip back to finish in the eighth spot.

“Traffic got thick at the end, and we lost a couple of spots,” Saldana added. “Dennis and Teresa Roth continue to support us and as we get closer to the West Coast in the next couple of weeks, hopefully we can get them a couple of World of Outlaws wins.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, Southern Pacific Farms, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2016.
