PETERSEN MEDIA- Spending his week competing with the World of Outlaws in the Buckeye State, Joey Saldana would record a trio of Top-10 finishes including a sixth place effort at the Brad Doty Classic, and a ninth place score at the Kings Royal.

“We weren’t exactly where we wanted to be for a big week of racing, but luckily for us there is another big week of racing in front of us and we will look to redeem ourselves,” Joey Saldana said.

Kicking a busy week off at the Attica Raceway Park for the Brad Doty Classic, Saldana would get his week started off in fine fashion as he timed in second fastest in his qualifying flight.

Picking up a heat race win, the Brownsburg, IN driver would finish third in his Dash and line up in the third row for the 40-lap feature event. On the slick Attica Raceway Park, Saldana would battle with Danny Holtgraver and Sheldon Haudenschild at times as he hung right around the Top-Five. In the closing laps, Saldana would lose a spot to Holtgraver and he would finish sixth at the Brad Doty Classic.

Heading to Eldora Speedway for the new three-night Kings Royal weekend, Saldana would time the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Roth Investments No. 83 in eighth fastest in his session for the event dubbed as the “Jokers Wild”.

A strong showing in his heat race would see Saldana work from his fourth starting spot to finish in the second position and earn a berth into the Dash, where an eighth place finish would line him up in the fourth row of 30-lapper.

Running in eighth when things came to life, Saldana would solidly be in the Top-10 until an issue with a bleeder would plague him. Losing air pressure, Saldana would lose several spots during the duration of the night and finish 15th.

Back at  it for the Knight Before The Royal, Saldana would time in fourth quickest in qualifying time trials before winning his heat race. Winning his Dash, Saldana would line up on the front row of the feature event alongside Daryn Pittman.

With Pittman getting the jump, Saldana would slip back into the second spot as he worked around the extremely slick ½ mile speedway. Feeling pressure from Donny Schatz for the spot on the 10th lap, Saldana would hold strong only to see Schatz get by him and put him back into the third spot.

Running in the third spot and keeping pace with Schatz, Saldana would then feel pressure from Rico Abreu on the 16th lap. Fending off the Californian for three laps, Saldana would eventually give up the final spot on the podium on the 19th circuit. The final 11 laps would see Saldana struggle to keep up his early pace as he would drift back to finish in the sixth spot.

The 33rd Annual Kings Royal would see the World of Outlaws leading qualifier stop the clicks with the seventh fastest lap of the night among the 60 cars taking time.

Going from fourth to second in his heat race, Saldana would line up in the fourth row for the 40-lap feature event. Running in the Top-10 for the duration of the feature event, Saldana just could not get the drive he needed to make a charge to the front.

When the dust settled on a busy week, Saldana would finish in the ninth spot.

“Races like this are races that Dennis and Teresa Roth want to win, and are races that us as a team want to win,” Saldana said. “It is that time of year where these races are all special, so we will work hard and try to win some of these. Huge thanks to the Roth family for their continued support, and my guys for continuing to work hard to get us better.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, Southern Pacific Farms, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2016.
