PETERSEN MEDIA- Joey Saldana will be the first to tell you he and his team had an up and down trip out West. After opening things up with a win in Las Vegas, NV, Saldana and company would have some issues over the following few weeks, but through perseverance and hard work the team was able to end their trip with three consecutive podium finishes.

“It was a huge confidence boost for us to end our trip like that,” Joey Saldana said. “We are still getting used to each other, and I think Eric and I are starting to get on the same page and that is huge in this sport.”

Kicking the final weekend of action in the Pacific time zone off on Friday night in Bakersfield, CA, Saldana would get things started off on a high note as he earned quick time honors in time trials.

Picking up the heat race win over Daryn Pittman, Saldana would then finish in the second spot in the Dash and put his Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Roth Investments No. 83 machine on the front row of the 35-lap Budweiser Bash feature event.

Falling into the second spot in the early goings of the race, Saldana would keep Daryn Pittman in his sights as he worked on the early race leader. As the leaders got into traffic, the battle would heat up and Saldana would see a monster run propel him into the lead.

Out front, Saldana was extremely strong, but cautions would plague the latter part of the feature event. The race’s final restart would be called back, and the next attempt would see Brad Sweet beat Saldana into turn one and take over the lead with just five laps to go in the contest. Unable to get back by Sweet, Saldana would settle for second place honors at the finish line.

Heading to the Perris Auto Speedway on Saturday night, Saldana continued to show tremendous speed as he would end up second on the speed chart when the qualifying session wrapped up. Again picking up the heat race win over Daryn Pittman, ‘The Brownsburg Bullet” would move into the Dash, where a sixth place finish would place him in the third row for the feature event.

When the race went green, Saldana would take a liking to the top side of the speedway, and coming out of turn four on the race’s opening lap he would drive around both Jason Sides and Donny Schatz to move into the fourth spot.

Falling back to the fifth spot, Saldana would get back into the fourth spot in the closing laps as he would close in on Shane Stewart for the final spot on the podium. Using a big time run on the race’s final lap, Saldana would sneak by Stewart out of turn four to finish third coming to the checkered flag.

With momentum on his side, Saldana and his Roth Motorsports team checked into the USA Raceway in Tucson, AZ on Monday night where Saldana timed in third quickest.

Finishing second in both his heat race and the Dash, Saldana would share the front row with Daryn Pittman as he looked to grab his second series win of the season.

When the green flag waived, Saldana settled into the second spot as he fended off a challenging Shane Stewart as he kept Pittman in his sights. Using the low side of the slicked off speedway, Saldana would hang right with Pittman as the top three race nosed to tail lap after lap.

In the race’s closing laps, Saldana would feel pressure from Donny Schatz as they duo battled for the second position. With Schatz getting off the bottom he would use momentum to get second on the race’s final lap as Saldana closed out his strong weekend with a third place finish.

“I’m really happy for this Roth Motorsports team,” Joey Saldana added. “We are clicking, and hopefully we can get Dennis and Teresa Roth some World of Outlaw wins as the season goes on. We would have loved to have given them at least one while we were in California, but luckily we will get a chance later this year.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2016.
