PETERSEN MEDIA: Make a late decision to head to the Stockton Dirt Track for Friday’s unsanctioned event, Chase Johnson and his Van Dyke Motorsports team put together a very good night that saw Johnson score his first Top-Five of the season aboard the Van Dyke No. 5H.
“We ran really well together at Stockton a few weeks ago, so we decided to go there again for one last race before we head up north for ASCS Northwest Speedweek,” Johnson said. “We have been really good together the last two races, so we are all looking forward to heading up.”
With 27 cars on hand at the event on Friday night, Johnson timed the Lucas Oil/K&N Products/JRI Shocks No. 5H machine in sixth fastest, putting him in the second row of his heat race.
On the extremely slick and finesse surface, Johnson finished in the third spot, giving him a berth into the night’s Dash.
Starting seventh in the Dash, Johnson was able to better his main event starting position by a row as he finished in the sixth spot, putting him in the third row for the feature event.
In the feature event, Stockton searched around the speedway for grip, and found himself in a rousing battle for the fourth spot, as fourth-sixth put on a very exciting battle.
Getting the NAAKE Suspension/Rodgers Racing Engines/FSR Radiators backed machine as high as the fourth spot, Johnson would cross the stripe in the fifth spot, giving him some momentum for upcoming ASCS Northwest Speedweek.
“We are really starting to click, and not only are we showing good speed, but we are also showing really good results, and I am happy for everyone involved,” he added. “As a driver I am really looking forward to seeing a couple of new tracks next week, and racing consecutive days, so it should be a fun week.”

ON TAP: Johnson and the Van Dyke Motorsports team will now team back up on June 29th as they head north for ASCS Northwest Speedweek. They will run June 29th at the Siskiyou Motor Speedway in Yreka, June 30th at the Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, OR, Coos Bay Speedway on July 1st, Willamette Speedway on July 2nd, and close the week out with the Cottage Grove Speedway on July 4th and 5th.
