(Petersen Media): Looking for his third Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster win of the 2015 season, Jonathan Allard and his Tri-C Motorsports team scored a second place finish at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night during the Mark Forni Classic.
“We definitely would have liked to have been one spot better, but we are proud of our podium effort,” Jonathan Allard said. “I love racing at the Placerville Speedway and it was a good night of racing in front of a very good crowd.”
Allard would time his Tri-C Manufacturing/K&N/ButlerBuilt No. 3c machine 11th fastest during qualifying time trials, good enough to put him on the front row of his heat race.
Taking advantage of the prime starting position, Allard would score the win, and race his way to the all-important Dash, where a fifth place finish would put him in the third row of the 30-lap A-Main event.
On the tight ¼ mile bullring, Allard would find himself in a torrid battle with the likes of Carson Macedo and Kyle Hirst as the trio jockeyed for position within the Top-Five during the races opening stages.
As Allard worked into the fourth spot just past the half way point, he would get by Cory Eliason to take over the third position in the running order. On lap 20, the race leader would get into a little trouble, and Allard was able to take advantage as he moved into the second spot and set his sights on Carson Macedo.
In traffic, the battle with Macedo and Hirst would resume but this time it was for the race lead, until an untimely caution flew on the 25th lap. A final restart would see Allard throw a challenge at Macedo for the top spot, but he would come up short as he settled for second at the stripe.
“We had a really good car, but things did not play out as we had hoped with the cautions,” Allard said. “It was a fun race, and I am really proud of everyone on the Tri-C Motorsports team.”
