Justin Sanders 2nd at Antioch Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: With most tracks in Northern California off over the past weekend, Justin Sanders and his JSR team made the trip to Antioch Speedway in Antioch, CA where Sanders would charge from seventh to finish second in the 20-lap feature event.

“It was nice to get up and check out the changes that have taken place at Antioch Speedway,” Justin Sanders said. “We had a good car in the feature, but it was just tough to make up ground in a hurry and we settled for second.”

Taking to the revamped Antioch Speedway on Saturday night, the Aromas, CA driver would pick up a fourth-place finish in heat race competition aboard the North County Plastering/Alkaline88/Andy’s Construction backed No. 17 machine.

Moving into the 20-lap feature event, Sanders would have his work cut out for himself as he would take the green flag from the seventh starting position.

On a track that was a bit on the narrow side for the winged 360 feature event, passing would prove to be at a premium during the rapid fire 20-lap feature event.

From the inside of the fourth row, Sanders would show patience as he worked his way forward, taking advantage of openings as they were presented to him.

Working his way up to the second position, Sanders would give chase to the race leader, but simply ran out of time. When the checkered flew, Sanders capped a rare appearance at Antioch Speedway with a second place finish.

“We took what we could during a really quick feature event, and ended up with a runner up finish,” Sanders said.

Justin and his team would like to thank North County Plastering, Alkaline88, Andy’s Construction, Yuba Sutter Aviation, Roadside 24hr Service, Wicked Cushion, Roger’s Diner, Factory Kahne, BG Labels and Tee’s, Walker Performance Filtration, Dixon and Son Tires, Ernie’s Service Center, East Lake Village, FK Rod Ends, Triple X Race Co., DMI, Keizer Wheels, Wings Unlimited, Ti64 Titanium, AIS Heating and Sheet Metal, Fred Lint and Family, JonSan Racing, Sandblast Service, G&N Construction, Steitz Towing, Durden Construction, Ernie’s Service Center, and Steve Duppman Racing for their continued support in 2020.

ON TAP: Sanders is set to return to Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA on Friday night.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-10, Wins-1, Top 5’s-6, Top-10’s-8
