PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking part in two races over the last weekend, Justin Sanders scored a sixth place finish at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA with the Civil War Series before finishing 11th at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
“It was an okay weekend all around, I would have to say,” Sanders said. “We were pretty good at Ocean, and Placerville we timed in bad, but we were able to move forward a little in the feature event.”
Timing in sixth fastest with the Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster on Friday night, Sanders would go on to win his heat, and earn a berth in the dash.
Finishing third in the six-lap dash, Sanders lined up for the feature event in the second row, and put together a strong run.
On this nigh restarts were a little hard on Sanders, and with many stoppages during the 30-lapper, he lost a few spots, but was still able to finish in the sixth spot at the Howard Kaeding Classic.
“For whatever reason we lost spots on restarts, and with so many of them, we were constantly having to make up ground,” he said. “Once we got going we were really good.”
Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway, Sanders timed the Warrington No. 18 machine in 18th fastest, before finishing fifth in his heat race.
Lining up 17th in the 25-lap feature event ,the Prunedale, CA driver worked around the speedway slowly picking up positions.
In a hard fought race, Sanders brought home an 11th place finish. “We didn’t time in great, but we were able to move forward on a track that was tough to pass on,” he explained. “
