Justin Sanders and Dale Miller Motorsports 2nd at Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals

PETERSEN MEDIA- With a string of cancelations due to regional fires, and King of the West commitments for Justin Sanders, the annual Fall Nationals in Chico, CA saw Sanders reunite with Dale Miller Motorsports for the first time since July and run well as the team finished fourth during Friday night’s opener before a second place run in Saturday night’s finale.

“Unfortunately, we had some races get cancelled on us, and it has made for a pretty long break for this team,” Justin Sanders said. “Even with the lull in the schedule, we were able to pick back up from where we left off and had a really good weekend together.”

Friday night the action kicked off at Silver Dollar Speedway for the annual Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals with 66 cars checking in for a night of action. Running the World of Outlaws format, Sanders would time the Thompson’s Buick-GMC/Thompson’s Jeep-Ram/Dale Miller Septic, Inc. No. 4SA entry in sixth fastest in his qualifying flight.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Aromas, CA driver would finish third as he would lock directly into the opening night feature event as he would take the green flag from the 11th starting position.

With the track holding moisture on a cool fall night, passing would be tough in traffic, but Sanders would make do as he powered his way forward. Jumping into the seventh position in the opening stanzas, Sanders would crack the Top-5 at the race’s halfway point.

Continuing to hold steady in the Top-5, Sanders would take advantage of a restart with five-to-go, and take the fourth position and go on to finish there.

Looking to put the Stephen Allard Tribute Car in victory lane at the race honoring Allard on Saturday night, Sanders would get off to another good start as he timed in seventh fastest in his flight with 69 cars piled into the pits on this night.

Able to work his way into second in his heat race, Sanders would garner a very important Dash position as his Dash win would put him on the pole of the 40-lapper.

When the race came to life, Sanders would jump out to the early lead as he led over the likes of Dominic Scelzi and Ryan Robinson.

Leading the way amidst a wild race going on behind him, Sanders would see young gun Corey Day get by him on the 11th lap as he slipped back to second. Continuing to keep pace with Day, the 20th lap would see Sanders fall back to third as eventual race winner, Kalib Henry, was able to get by him as he stormed to the race lead.

A lap 25 restart saw Sanders move back into second as he had his sights set on Henry for the final 15-laps of the race. Giving chase, Sanders would come up just short as he capped his Pacific Sprints Fall Nationals off with a second-place finish.

“This is a race we definitely want to win, but to be on the podium with this field of cars is still a good night’ Justin Sanders said. “Thanks to Dale and everyone associated with his team for their hard work.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 13, Wins- 6, Top-5’s-10, Top-10’s-10

ON TAP: Sanders will return to 410ci racing this weekend as he is slated for two nights of action in Hanford, CA.
