PETERSEN MEDIA: Justin Sanders overcame a blown power steering line early in the Ocean Sprints Presented By Taco Bravo feature event, and still managed to charge his way up to a fourth place finish.

“It could have been a really great night, but we can’t complain with the finish we had,” Sanders said. “We had a really good car, but blowing a power steering line hurt us a little, but we can’t hang our heads about a third place finish.”

With 21 cars on hand on Friday night, Sanders timed his North Country Plastering/G&N Construction/STS Trucking entry in ninth fast in time trials, and went on to finish second in his heat race.

Missing out on the redraw, Sanders lined the Lancaster Locksmith/Village Glass/Lufos Kustom Designs No. 17 up in the sixth row of the feature event, and was on the move early in the feature.

On the fourth lap, Sanders began experiencing power steering issues, but the Prunedale, CA driver continued to fight as he carved his way through a very stout field.

Running on the ragged edge, Sanders was able to get by Brad Furr and Carson Macedo late in the race to take the third spot, but with two to go, Sanders got up over the Ocean Speedway cushion, and slipped back to the fourth spot, where he would go on to finish.

“We had a really fast car, and I think we had the car to beat if we didn’t have mechanical issues,” he added. “Everyone keeps working hard on the family car, and hopefully next week we can win and lock ourselves into the Johnny Key Classic.”

Justin Sanders would like to thank North County Plastering, G&N Construction, STS Trucking, Lancaster Locksmith, Village Glass. Lufos Kustom Designs, Taco Bravo, LRB Race Products, Petersen Media, Fire Protection Management, Dirt Solution, Bob Tweedy, Ron Gravelle. Keener Auto Body, and  Dave Haver Racing Engines for their continued support.

ON TAP: Sanders will be back in action on Friday night at the Ocean Speedway for a shot at locking into the Johnny Key Classic before returning to action at the Placerville Speedway.
