Justin Sanders Charges to Second Place Finish at Petaluma Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Justin Sanders and Dale Miller continued their Championship chase with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Saturday night in Petaluma, CA as Sanders charged from eighth to second and kept Dale Miller Motorsports atop the owner standings with the series.

“I had a blast at Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night, and I really commend them on the changes they made to the track,” Justin Sanders said. “It was wide, it was slick, it was racy, and we were able to bounce back from an issue at the end of the Dash.”

Kicking the night off by earning quick time honors for the second week-in-a-row aboard the Thompson’s Buick-GMC/Thompson’s Jeep-Ram/Dale Miller Septic Inc. backed No. 4SA, Sanders lined up in the second row of his heat race.

Racing his way to a third-place finish in his heat, Sanders was securely in the High Sierra Industries Dash as he took the green flag form the sixth row on the slick Petaluma Speedway surface.

Working his way forward in action packed six-lap shootout, contact while battling for fourth on the last lap ensued and resulted in a collapsed front end for Sanders and an eighth-place finish officially which put him in the fourth row of the 35-lap feature event.

When the green flag was displayed to the field, Sanders took a liking to the high side of the speedway as he planted his right rear next to the fence and carved his way forward.

Using a couple of early restarts to his advantage, Sanders raced into fifth by the eighth lap as he continued to work his way forward. Staying committed to the top, Sanders then found himself in third as laps clicked off.

Battling hard with Justyn Cox, Sanders was able to power his way into second, but Cox answered the call as the battle was on.

In the closing stages of the race, Sanders was able to use the bottom to his advantage as he got under Cox on the 34th lap in turns one and two. Able to clear Cox and drive away, Sanders went on to pick up a second-place finish when the checkered flag was displayed.

“There were some good battles over the course of that one, and it is good to be able to come from eighth and finish second,” Sanders added. “Thanks to Dale Miller, and everyone that continues to support this race team.”

The Dale Miller Motorsports team would like to thank Thompson’s Buick-GMC, Thompson’s Jeep-Ram, Dale Miller Septic Inc., North County Plastering, Hangtown Billiards, Anrak Corporation, Smith Titanium, Frank’s Body Shop, Fisher Racing Engines, Low Voltage Experts Inc., Walker Performance Filtration, Factory Kahne Shocks, Vortex Wings, TJ Forged Wheels, FK Rod Ends, Triple X Race Co., King Racing Products, and A.R.T.
