Justin Sanders Picks Up 15th Win of Season in Dirt Cup Tune Up

PETERSEN MEDIA: While he has been no stranger at Ocean Speedway on Friday nights in 2021, Justin Sanders made a rare start with the Larry Antaya Motorsports team this past weekend as the team stopped in for a tune up for this weekend’s Dirt Cup in Washington. Things seemed to be working well, as Sanders was able to pick up his 15th win of the season, and seventh at his home track.
“Everything felt really good on Friday night, and it has us all excited to test ourselves this weekend in Washington at Dirt Cup,” Justin Sanders said. “We have a few little things to look into, but overall, really happy with the night and happy to get another win.”
Friday night, Sanders got his night underway by timing the Fire Protection Management/North County Plastering/Roadside 24hr Service machine timed in third fastest amongst the 27 cars checked in for Taco Bravo action.
Lining up fourth in heat race competition, Sanders would flex some muscle as he worked around the ¼ mile bullring and picked up a second place finish to earn a spot in the Dash.
Running second in the Dash to Michael Pombo, Sanders was in a very good position to chase after his 15th win of the season as he would be on the front row for the 30-lap feature event.
Jumping out to the early lead, Sanders would look very stout out front as he quickly approached traffic, only to see the yellow flag wave on the fifth circuit. After the stoppage, Sanders again would get off to a great start as he would again reach the back of the pack on the race’s 12th lap.
In traffic, Sanders would begin to feel pressure from second running Joey Ancona as the duo battled up front until Ancona had issues on the 22nd lap.
With Mitchell Faccinto now in second, Sanders would get the jump on the restart and power away to the victory. With the win, Sanders has now picked up 15 feature event wins, including seven at Ocean Speedway.
“Big thanks to Larry and all the guys for getting this thing out here to get a night in before we head north,” Sanders said. “Looking forward to the opportunity, and hopefully we can make our CA fans proud this weekend.”
Justin and Larry Antaya Motorsports would like to thank Fire Protection Management, North County Plastering, Roadside 24 Hour Service, Wicked Cushion, FK Rod Ends, DMI, Triple X Race Co., Walker Filtration, FK Shocks, and Wings Unlimited for their support in 2021.
