Justin Sanders Picks up Two Top-Five Finishes with Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour

PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting in one final weekend of action in the Midwest in for the 2020 season, Justin Sanders and Antaya Motorsports had a strong weekend at Devil’s Bowl Speedway that saw the Aromas, CA driver pick up a pair of Top-Five finishes.

“For only running here once earlier this season, I was really happy with our weekend,” Justin Sanders said. “I wish we could get more laps at a lot of these places in the Midwest, but extremely thankful for the opportunity I had to get back here and get my first look and get a feel for a lot of different tracks.”

Friday night marked the opening night of the ‘Winter Nationals’, and Sanders would get things started off by charging from his sixth starting spot to finish second in his heat race aboard the Fire Protection Management/Alkaline 88/North County Plastering backed No. 16a machine.

Advancing directly into the opening night feature event, Sanders would roll off of the starting grid from the fifth starting position. Racing toe to toe with a few of the series’ top regulars, Sanders would battle for a podium spot late in the race.

Unable to crack the Top-Three, Sanders would cap his night off with a fifth-place finish.

Saturday night brought on the Winter Nationals finale, as well as marked Sanders’ final start in the Midwest of the season.

Lining up eight in his heat race, Sanders put on another show early in the night as he sliced and diced his way around the ½ mile speedway to secure a third-place finish and again transfer directly into the feature event.

Taking the green flag from the third starting position, Sanders would battle with the likes of Sam Hafertepe, Jack Dover, and Dylan Westbrook as they all jockeyed for position in the fast paced feature event.

Again, finding himself in a battle for a spot on the podium, Sanders would come up just short as he capped his night off with another strong result by way of his fifth place finish.

“I am kind of mad at myself that we were unable to get on the podium either night,” Sanders said. “A couple mistakes on my end, but that comes with more laps at these places. Again, thank you to all of our partners that made these trips this year possible.”

Justin and Larry Antaya Motorsports would like to thank Fire Protection Management, Alkaline 88, North County Plastering, Roadside 24 Hour Service, Wicked Cushion, FK Rod Ends, DMI, Triple X Race Co., Walker Filtration, FK Shocks, and Wings Unlimited for their support in 2020.

ON TAP: Justin Sanders and Antaya Motorsports are unsure where they will be next at the time of press.
