Justin Sanders Returns to Winning Ways at Ocean Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Finishing second one week ago at Ocean Speedway, Justin Sanders returned to his winning ways on Friday night as he withstood a torrid battle with Shane Golobic in traffic to record his third feature event win of the season at his home track.
“The track has been really hard and slick the last couple of weeks, and Friday night it was totally different,” Justin Sanders said. “I keep saying that we are a little off with my car, but Friday night definitely felt like we were heading in the right direction.”
Sanders kicked his night off by timing the North County Plastering/Andy’s Construction/Roadside 24hr Service backed entry in second fastest in qualifications amongst the 29 cars checked in for action.
Racing to a third-place finish in his heat race, the Aromas, CA pilot would finish second in the Dash, and line up on the front row of the feature event alongside Hanford, CA driver, Mitch Faccinto.
Following a quick track prep session prior to the ‘A’, Sanders would settle into the second position when the race came to life. Biding his time, Sanders would make his move on the seventh lap as he became the new race leader as traffic soon came into play.
Once out front, traffic was instantly part of the equation for Sanders who had slower cars ahead of him to deal with, and a fast-moving Shane Golobic behind him applying pressure.
In some hair-raising moments, Sanders and Golobic would throw down in a battle of epic proportions before a couple of yellows would take them out of traffic and put them back in open track.
A late race green flag run would again see the duo hook up in another knockdown, drag out battle as they dealt with traffic in the race’s final laps. With Sanders out front, he would do a great job of navigating around the bullring, as he beat Golobic to the line by just over a tenth of a second.
“It was a fun race, and traffic really made things interesting,” Sanders said. “I am happy with the direction we are heading with the family car, and hopefully we can be a little better this week.”
With the win on Friday and then another win this past Saturday, Sanders now has nine wins to his credit in 15 starts thus far in 2021.
Justin and his team would like to thank North County Plastering, Alkaline88, Andy’s Construction, Roadside 24hr Service, Wicked Cushion, Roger’s Diner, Factory Kahne, BG Labels and Tee’s, Walker Performance Filtration, Dixon and Son Tires, Ernie’s Service Center, East Lake Village, FK Rod Ends, Triple X Race Co., DMI, Keizer Wheels, Wings Unlimited, Ti64 Titanium, AIS Heating and Sheet Metal, Fred Lint and Family, JonSan Racing, Sandblast Service, G&N Construction, Steitz Towing, Durden Construction, Ernie’s Service Center, and Steve Duppman Racing for their continued support in 2021.
