PETERSEN MEDIA: Living a dream season thus far in 2015, Justin Sanders lived a nightmare during the 2015 Trophy Cup as a crash during the Thursday program and a blown engine during the Friday program brought his weekend to an early end.
“We have been pretty fortunate in 2015 to not have many nights like we had in Tulare, but we had a horrible day on Friday that ended our weekend early,” Justin Sanders said.
With Thursday’s program pushed to Friday afternoon due to storm front, Justin Sanders timed his Lancaster Locksmith/North County Plastering/Fire Protection Management No. 17 machine in 17th fastest in time trials.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Sanders would race his way to a third place finish, and end up lining up in the C Main with the way the format worked out.
Getting out to the early lead in the C, Sanders would find traffic by the fourth lap. With a car flipping in front of him, Sanders would try to avoid the wreckage, but he would take a nasty ride of his own causing damage to his car and his engine.
Working hard to get ready for the night show, Sanders would have mechanical issues in hot laps sideline him for the rest of the weekend.
“I have to thank everyone who thrashed to get us ready for the second part of the show on Friday,” Sanders said. “Unfortunately we had more engine issues in hot laps and our weekend was over.”
ON TAP: Sanders will regroup before the Civil War Series finale on November 7th at the Stockton Dirt Track.
2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-52, Wins-20, Top-5’s-35, Top-10’s-44
