PETERSEN MEDIA: Justin Sanders continues to have a red hot start to the season as he scored yet another podium finish by way of his second place run on Friday night at the Ocean Speedway before tallying  a Top-10 finish with the Civil War Series on Saturday night at the Calistoga Speedway.

“I am fortunate enough to drive two cars weekly, and both have been really good so far,” Sanders said. “I have to thank everyone who helps me, because their hard work is paying off.”

The Watsonville, CA pilot kicked his weekend off on Friday night as he took to his home track, the Ocean Speedway, aboard his JSR No. 17 entry.

21 cars were in action for the second round of Taco Bravo sprints action, and Sanders kicked his night off by timing in sixth fastest before scoring the heat race win, and earning a spot in the night’s redraw.

Finding himself with the eight after the draw, Sanders would line up in the fourth row for the 30-lap feature event, on a cowboy up type of a racetrack. When the action came to life, Sanders was able to make some magic happen as he worked his way towards the top three.

Sitting in the third spot on a late restart, Sanders was able to get by Ryan Bernal on the restart to take over the second spot, where he would go on to finish.

Saturday night saw Sanders climb back aboard the F&W Racing No. 18 machine as the team headed to the Calistoga Speedway ½ mile for the third round of Civil War Series action.

With 15 cars checked in on Saturday, Sanders would time his entry in seventh fastest before finishing fourth in his heat race. Earning a spot in the dash, Sanders would finish sixth, putting himself in the third row for the 25-lap main event.

The start of the race saw Sanders crack the Top-Five, but after a lap five yellow, Sanders slipped back, and would never work his way back forward, as his night ended with a Top-10 finish.

“We were okay at the start of the race, but after the restart, we faded a little, and could never seem to get moving back forward.”

ON TAP: Sanders and the F&W Racing team will be at the Marysville Raceway on Saturday night.
