PETERSEN MEDIA- Justin Sanders and Dale Miller Motorsports are hitting on all cylinders to open up the 2021 season. With so much uncertainty forcing Miller to sit idle in 2020, Sanders has picked right up in the familiar No. 4SA entry as he picked up his third win in just four starts with the team on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
“We have a great car right now, and it is a big shot in our arm to get a win on a surface that slicked up towards the end of the night,” Sanders said. “Slick hasn’t been to kind to us, so to still have speed and grip as it blew off is a great feeling for us.”
Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Sanders opened the night up by timing the Thompson’s Buick-GMC/Thompson’s Jeep-Ram/Dale Miller Septic, Inc. backed entry in 9th fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Sanders put the field on early notice as he motored out to the early lead and went on to pick up the win in convincing fashion and earn a spot in the nightly redraw.
Pulling the two pill, Sanders would take the green flag from the front row of the 25-lap feature event as he started alongside John Clark. The initial start would be negated with Clark having an issue and start two would see Andy Gregg pull alongside Sanders.
When the green flag was displayed, Sanders would jump out to the early lead as he was flanked by Andy Gregg. Setting a torrid pace, Sanders was virtually untouchable for the first 13 laps until the caution flag flew.
The ensuring restart saw the Aromas, CA driver continue to lead for the next four circuits until another stoppage waived.
This restart would briefly change the complexion of the race as it was deemed that Sanders was deemed to have started the race to early and was docked one position. Now in second, Sanders would chase Blake Carrick into the first set of turns where he would throw a big move on Carrick only to see the move get negated.
The next two laps saw Sanders attempt the same maneuver in turns one and two with the third time being the charm for him to get back in the top spot.
Leading the final few laps, Sanders would pick up his third win in four starts with Dale Miller, and it marked his sixth overall thus far in 2021.
“Other than having a little restart trouble last week, we may be talking about four wins in four races, or at least four podiums in four races, but it’s part of it. It just shows how strong this car is, and we are hoping we can keep this momentum up,” Sanders added.
The Dale Miller Motorsports team would like to thank Thompson’s Buick-GMC, Thompson’s Jeep-Ram, Dale Miller Septic, Inc., North County Plastering, Nail-It Roofing, Anrak Corporation, Frank’s Body Shop, Rider Racing Engines, Walker Performance Filtration, Factory Kahne Shocks, Smith Titanium, FK Rod Ends, Triple X Race Co., King Racing Products, A.R.T.
