PETERSEN MEDIA- Making his season debut with Dale Miller Motorsports on Saturday night, Justin Sanders and team would work out some opening night gremlins as they captured a sixth place finish with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.
“Overall it was a good night for the team,” Justin Sanders said. “We are working out some kinks on the new car, and we had some fuel pump issues, but I think we had really good speed and have a really good baseline.”
Timing the Thompson’s Auto/RedHawk Casino/Dale Miller Septic, Inc. backed No. 4SA in second quickest in his qualifying group. From the second row of his heat race, the Aromas, CA pilot would pick up a third place finish which would be good enough to transfer him automatically into the 35-lap feature event.
Lining up in the 12th starting position, a tricky surface would take most drivers a few laps to find a line they liked. Sanders would go to work on the ¼ mile bullring as he battled the likes of Kyle Hirst, Shane Golobic, and Tony Gualda for much of the race.
With stoppages really hampering time in traffic, Sanders would spend much of the race looking for a way into the Top-Five. Taking advantage of a handful of double-file restarts, the multi-time Placerville Speedway winner would just miss out on the Top-Five as he accepted the checkered flag in the sixth position.
“If the weather stays away, we have some really good ideas to get even better in the coming weeks,” Sanders said. “I really want to thank Dale and Tara Miller for working with me to race more together, as well as all of the people who worked so hard on the No. 4SA this winter and on Saturday.
The Dale Miller Motorsports team would like to thank Thompson’s Buick-GMC, Thompson’s Jeep-Ram, Dale Miller Septic, Inc., North County Plastering, Anrak Corporation, Yuba-Sutter Aviation, Frank’s Body Shop, Wion’s Powder Coating, Walker Performance Filtration, Factory Kahne Shocks, Smith Titanium, FK Rod Ends, Triple X Race Co., King Racing Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, and Vortex Wings for their support.
2019 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 1, Wins- 0, Top-5’s-0, Top-10’s-1
