PETERSEN MEDIA: Though he didn’t compete for the points championship at Ocean Speedway this season, Justin Sanders still capped off a very strong 2019 season at his home track as he picked up his sixth feature event win of the year at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds.

“It is always cool to win the season finale,” Justin Sanders said. “It is a great momentum boost as you head into the off season, but our season isn’t quite done just yet. Thanks to all these guys for working so hard with me, and all these companies on the side of our car for their support.”

Sanders had a great night from start to finish, and it started with him timing the North County Plastering/Andy’s Construction/Yuba Sutter Aviation backed No. 17 entry in second fastest in time trials.

From the second row of his heat race, Sanders would pick up a couple of positions as he raced his way to a second place finish and earned a berth in the nightly Dash. Lining up on the outside of the front row for the Dash, the Aromas, CA driver would jump out to the early lead, picking up the win, and earning the pole for the final 30-lap feature event of the season at the ¼ mile bullring.

When the action came to life, Sanders got a great start over Brad Furr as he raced to lead in turns one and two. Once out in front, Sanders was able to distance himself from the field as he would quickly find himself in traffic.

With a very strong car underneath him, Sanders would not squander the opportunity to pick up his sixth win of the season at his home track. Though a late restart gave Furr a chance to throw something at Sanders, Sanders was too good on this night as he pulled his machine into victory lane.

“We were really fast all night long and it was a fun car to driver,” Sanders said. “It was a fun season at Ocean Speedway, and looking forward to a couple more races to close out our year.”

Justin and his team would like to thank North County Plastering, Andy’s Construction, Yuba Sutter Aviation, Roadside 24hr Service, Roger’s Diner, Factory Kahne, BG Labels and Tee’s, Walker Performance Filtration, Dixon and Son Tires, Ernie’s Service Center, East Lake Village, FK Rod Ends, Triple X Race Co., DMI, Keizer Wheels, Wings Unlimited, Ti64 Titanium, AIS Heating and Sheet Metal, Fred Lint and Family, JonSan Racing, Sandblast Service, G&N Construction, and Steve Duppman Racing for their continued support in 2019.

ON TAP:Sanders is unsure if he will be at this weekend’s Cotton Classic in Hanford, CA, but will for sure be at the Trophy Cup in Tulare, CA with Dale Miller Motorsports October 17-19th.
