Justyn Cox 13th at Placerville Following Mid Race Issue

PETERSEN MEDIA: Retuning to the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night following an off week due to weather, Justyn Cox would see a mid race issue on a restart relegate him back to finish 13th when the checkered flag flew.
“It was really a rollercoaster night for us,” Cox said. “We went out late in time trials and didn’t seem to have speed, and then in the feature we had a good run going but on a restart we got bottled up and I ended up falling back to 13th. I definitely think our car was Top-five caliber.”
Timing the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex backed No. 31c machine in 15th fastest, Cox would capitalize on a prime starting position in his heat race and go on to pick up the win.
By way of his win, the Clarksburg, CA driver would move into the all important redraw where the seven pill lined him up in the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event.
As the race came to life, Cox settled into the seventh spot as he worked the bottom of the speedway like many other drivers were on this night. A quick surface on this night had the leaders in traffic early, which would lead to a stoppage on the 11th lap.
The ensuing restart saw Cox get bottled up as cars got up to speed, and as he did that he would get out of shape and lose several positions. Once gathered and back underway, Cox would be back in the 13th spot.
Doing what we could in the final half of the race, Cox would take the checkered flag in the 13th position.
“It was a little frustrating to get caught up there like we did, but it was just part of the circumstances on Saturday,” Cox said. “I think we had a really good car and have to thank Rodney and Kyle for really busting their backsides on Saturday night and giving us a good car.”
The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, LRB, Konnected, Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, JRD Endeavors, VSR, ART, K&N Performance, Justice Brothers, Cheetah IV Racing, E-ST Garage, Worton Designs, Manzer Motorsports, Swimming Pool Perfections, and Tim’s Hot Rod Shop for their support in 2016!
2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-9, Wins-0, Top 5’s-2, Top 10’s-3
ON TAP: Justyn Cox will be in action on two occasions this week as he is scheduled to head to the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA on Friday night, and the Placerville Speedway in Placerville, CA on Saturday night.
