PETERSEN MEDIA: Spending his Saturday night in Placerville, CA, Justyn Cox would fight back from a mid-race miscue to finish seventh.

“Our car was extremely better than what our finish shows,” Cox said. “We were battling with the leaders early in the race and actually passed for second at point until a caution negated the pass. A couple laps later I got over the cushion and fell back to like 17th, before working back up to seventh in the final 10-laps.”

Timing the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex backed No. 31c machine in second fastest among the 25 cars that were checked into the pit area, the Clarksburg, CA driver would proceed to finish fourth in his heat race.

Lining up in the second row of the feature event by way of the redraw, Cox would settle into the fourth spot in the opening laps as the track was still taking shape.

Sitting in the fourth spot when the caution flew on the 13th lap, Cox would make a bid for the second spot when the race restarted, but another stoppage would negate the pass and he would go back to fourth.

Chasing after Andy Forbserg for the third spot, Cox would get over the cushion on the 15th lap, and would fall back to the 17th spot. Mired deep in the field, Cox would continue to race hard as he was able to fight his way forward and salvage his night with a seventh place finish.

“It was good to have another strong car at Placerville,” Justyn Cox said. “We have a big two-day show in Oregon this weekend, so hopefully we can continue to have the speed we have now up in the Northwest and contend for a win.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, Justice Brothers, K&N, LRB, Konnected, A.R.T., Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, EyeLusions, All American Powder Coating, Coos Bay Speedway, Swimming Pool Perfections, Tim’s Hot Rod Shop, Shell Shock, Moyle Race Engines, and Manzer Motorsports for their support in 2017!

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-14, Wins-1, Top 5’s-2, Top 10’s-5

ON TAP: Justyn Cox will make the trip to Cottage Grove Speedway this Saturday and Sunday night for the Marvin Smith Memorial.
