Justyn Cox and C&M Motorsports Grab Placerville Speedway Victory

PETERSEN MEDIA- Looking forward to racing together at Placerville Speedway weekly in 2020 when they came together over the winter, Justyn Cox and C&M Motorsports made the most of the long wait as Cox picked up the season opening win on Saturday night.
“We have both really been chomping at the bit to get to Placerville Speedway to race together,” Justyn Cox said. “Cody and I really work well together, and it was another fun night working with him, Mandi, and everyone on the team.”
With 46 cars on hand, Cox would time the Moorefield Construction/Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber, Inc. backed No. 7C machine in fastest in his qualifying group.
Form the fourth starting position in his heat race, Cox would race his way to a second-place finish and make himself eligible for the all-important Dash.
Running fourth in the Dash, Cox would line up on the outside of the second row for the 30-lap feature event on a very wide and racy Placerville Speedway. With the track offering up multiple grooves, Cox would work into third, before taking over second on the fourth lap.
Stalking Andy Forsberg for a couple of laps, Cox was able to make the bottom work, as he got into the lead on the eighth lap.
Out in front, Cox was able to move around, and this would be key as he found some lines that helped him as he got into thick traffic. Getting through a rough patch in turns three and four, and making light contact with the outside wall on the 15th lap, Cox would endure right rear shock damage that made for a bit of a rough ride for the last half of the race.
Hitting his marks, Cox would feel pressure form Michael Faccinto in the closing laps as they battled through dense traffic, but he was able to keep him at bay until the yellow flew and gave him clear track.
Nailing the final restart, Cox would cruise on to pick up his second feature event win of the season with C&M Motorsports after winning at Silver Dollar Speedway back in March.
“Cody, Mandi, and their team have always been really good at Placerville, and I feel that I have been pretty good there too the last few years, so I had a lot of confidence heading into the day,” Cox said. “TO pull it off, and tie Glenn Boune on the all-time wins list is pretty cool.”
The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Berco Redwood, Barry Lumber, Inc., Legacy Specialties, Inc. PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
ON TAP: C&M Motorsports will be idle until Placerville Speedway races again, but Cox will pilot his family car this Friday night at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA.
BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-5, Wins-2, Top 5’s-4, Top 10’s-4.
