Justyn Cox and C&M Motorsports Win Silver Cup

PETERSEN MEDIA- Feeling very good about things following his first weekend with C&M Motorsports, Justyn Cox wasted no time putting the car in victory lane as he dominated Friday night’s Silver Cup feature event.

“After last weekend, I knew we would have a chance to win a lot of races this year,” Justyn Cox said. “We were so fast at Merced and Petaluma, and we continued to be fast on Friday night and it is awesome to get Cody and Mandi a win so soon.”

With Friday’s race getting in before a wet weather system hit the area, Cox and the team took full advantage as he kicked things off by timing the Moorefield Construction/Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber No. 7c in sixth fastest.

Moving into heat race action, the Clarksburg, CA driver would pick up a third-place finish aboard the Legacy Specialties, Inc./PT Shocks/Swartz Diesel backed entry, and earn a place in the redraw.

With luck on his side, Cox would find himself with the one pill, putting him on the pole for the 40-lap Silver Cup ‘A’ Main event, as he would look for his second career win at the track after winning his first career feature back in October during the tracks’ final weekend of 2019.

When the race went green, Cox would jump out to the early lead and quickly begin to distance himself from the rest of the field. Looking very strong out front, Cox was methodical through traffic as he continued to keep the likes of Sean Becker, and Shane Golobic at bay.

A late restart would put the rest of the field on his rear bumper, but Cox was simply too good on this night, as he went on to capture his first win of the season, and his first win with C&M Motorsports.

“Cody, MF, Cori, and everyone who works on this car had us so good for the feature event,” Cox said. “With the draw going our way, I knew I had to capitalize and really feel like I drove a mistake free race. Winning at Chico is so tough, and to hold off one of the best up there in Sean Becker is really special to me. These first two weekends have been a blast with Cody, Mandi, and there team, and with the weather and these mandates coming, I hope it is not too long until we get to get back racing.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Berco Redwood, Barry Lumber, Inc., Legacy Specialties, Inc. PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
