Justyn Cox Charges from 16th to Seventh at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Fresh off of a quick trip to the Midwest, Justyn Cox and C&M Motorsports were back in action at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the ‘Mac Tiner Tribute’ and Cox was able to charge from 16th to finish seventh in the feature event.

“Saturday was a good night for the C&M Motorsports team,” Justyn Cox said. “We were just a little off in time trials, and with 58 cars in the pit area it would put us a little deeper than we would have liked to have been to start the feature.”

Timing the Moorefield Construction/Berco Redwood/Barry Lumber backed No. 7c entry in fifth fastest in his time trial group, the Clarksburg, CA driver would line up fifth in his heat race.

With only the top four finishers transferring into the feature, Cox would need to get a good jump. He was able to do just that as he worked his way to a third-place finish and punched his ticket directly into the $5,094-to-win feature event.

Finding himself 16th on the starting grid, Cox knew the slicked off surface would be prone to passing and it would allow him to search around the bullring and work his way forward.

Following a bit of a slow start to the feature event, an extended green flag run saw Cox work his way into the Top-10, and then through the Top-10 as he got up to seventh before a lap 22 red flag was needed.

The final eight lap dash to the finish would see Cox stall out in the final run, though he would maintain his seventh position where he would go on to finish.

“Big thank to Cody and Mandi, and everyone who helped on this car on Saturday night,” Cox added. “We had a really good car on the long run, but after that late red we couldn’t really make up any ground. I am extremely happy with how things felt, and what we have been able to do despite running a limited scheduled together. Hopefully 2021 is a little more normal, and we can put together a lot of races liked we had planned on this season.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Berco Redwood, Barry Lumber, Inc., Legacy Specialties, Inc. PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
