PETERSEN MEDIA: Battling with the Civil War Series at the Marysville Raceway on Saturday night, Justyn Cox would have his elbows up on a heavy and rough surface though he would work his way up to finish in the Top-Five.
“It was pretty fast all night long, and it made passing tough,” Cox said. “You had to be patient, and by doing that we were able to gain a few spots.”
Timing the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex backed No. 31c machine in eighth fastest. With a three-heat program in play on Saturday, Cox would line up on the front row of his heat race, and win, which placed him in the six-lap Dash.
Drawing the eighth for his Dash starting spot, Cox would finish in the eighth spot after a rock went through his hood and broke his throttle cable on the final lap.
As the track continued to stay hooked up and hold a lot of speed, Cox would run inside the Top-10 during the duration of the feature event as he slowly worked his way forward. Able to grab a couple of spots during a pair of early restarts, Cox would race his way into the fifth spot during a long 19-lap green flag run.
Battling with DJ Freitas during the final green-white-checkered shootout, Cox would bring his Cox Family Racing entry home with a third place finish.
“It is tough when the track is like that, but we had a good car and were able to move forward a little,” Cox said. “Thanks to Rod, Kyle, Eric, Dan, and everyone that helped us out on Saturday night.”
