PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to action in California over the weekend, Justyn Cox and his Cox Racing team took to the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night were the Clarksburg, CA native picked up a fourth place finish.

“It was a so-so night,” Cox said. “We timed in well, and had a good starting spot but we were just a little off in the feature event.”

Lining up in the third spot for the 25-lap A Main event, Cox dropped the fourth on the start as he chased after Jake Morgan who ran just ahead of him. Working the cushion, Cox would fight his machine a bit, and struggled to track down the third place car in the early stages of the race.

Reeling in Morgan as the race reached the half-way point, Cox was able to finally make a move stick on the 16th lap, but as that happened Sean Becker would get by Cox and he continued to run in fourth.

Stalking Becker, Cox would be unable to catch up to him and attempt a pass, so he would close his Saturday night out with a fourth place finish.

“We were just too tight on the cushion in the feature event, and it took us too many laps to catch the 45 car (Morgan),” Cox added. “It was a good finish, but we would have liked to of been a little better.”

Cox would open his night up by timing the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex No. 31c machine in sixth quickest. Lining the PM Truck Repair/LRB Race Products/Konnected backed machine up on the front row of his heat, Cox would pick up the win and earn a spot in the nightly redraw.

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, LRB, Konnected, Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, JRD Endeavors, VSR, ART, Axcel Race Suits, SafRacer.Com, K&N Performance, Justice Brothers, Cheetah IV Racing, E-ST Garage, Worton Designs, Manzer Motorsports,  and Tim’s Hot Rod Shop for their support in 2015!

ON TAP: With his 410ci engine being worked on and the KWS Series taking to the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Cox and his team will make the tow to the Marysville Raceway this weekend.
