Justyn Cox Hard Charges Friday Before Mechanical Issues Saturday

PETERSEN MEDIA- Sneaking in one final action of ‘pre-season’ racing before points racing at Placerville Speedway gets underway, Justyn Cox and C&M Motorsports would hard charge in Hanford, CA on Friday night before engine issues slowed them on Saturday.

“Friday night we were able to figure a few things out early in the night, and it allowed us to have a really strong run on a narrow surface,” Cox said. “Saturday night we were setting ourselves up to be in a good spot in the feature event, but unfortunately an engine issue ended our night.”

Taking part in a two-day Kings of Thunder event at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA over the weekend, Cox and C&M Motorsports would get things underway on Friday night by timing the Berco Redwood/Barry Lumber, Inc./Lund Construction backed entry in eight fastest in time trials.

Finishing sixth in heat race action, Cox would be forced into the ‘B’ Main where his second-place finish would move him into the feature event.

Trying to tweak their entry during the preliminary events, Cox and company would diagnose a bad torsion bar prior the feature event and would make a change to see if it would help their set up.

The change would work well for the team, as Cox was able to do what not man could do on the locked down surface, and that was make moves and pass cars. Lining up 23rd on the starting grid, Cox would do a great job of racing his way towards the Top-10.

Though he would come up a little short, Cox was still able to gain 10 spots in the feature and close the night out with a 13th place finish.

Saturday night saw Cox time in sixth fastest in qualifying time trials. Lining up sixth in his heat race, Cox would need to finish inside the Top-Three to earn the direct transfer into the feature event.

Cox would do a great job in the early stages of the race as he would work his way into second. However, once he got into second, things would go array under the hood of the C&M Motorsports entry, ultimately ending the team’s night.

“It was a tough way to end our weekend on Saturday by hurting an engine,” Cox said. “We are all happy with our car now, and we are all looking forward to getting back to Placerville Speedway to open their 2021 season on Saturday night. I know Cody and Mandi love racing at Placerville as much as I do, and I am hoping we can duplicate the success we had at last year's opener."

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Barry Lumber, Inc., Lund Construction, Anrak, Legacy Specialties, Inc. PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Cox and C&M Motorsports will be in action at Placerville Speedway on Saturday.
