Justyn Cox Second at Stockton Dirt Track

PETERSEN MEDIA: Enduring a part failure at the start of the feature event a couple weeks ago, Justyn Cox had a much better night at Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday that culminated with a second place finish.

“Saturday was a long night as we still chased some gremlins,” Justyn Cox said. “It was nice that we got to run the feature, but we fought a vibration and some brake issues, so we have some work to do in the shop for sure.”

Running a duel heat race format on Saturday in Stockton, CA, Cox lined the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Michael David Winery backed No. 31c machine up fifth in the first heat race.

On the hooked-up Stockton Dirt Track surface, Cox would maintain his position as would much of the field as he finished fifth. Lining up on the pole of his second heat race, the Clarksburg, CA pilot would race his way to the win.

When points were tabulated from the heat races, Cox would find himself in the second row for the 20-lap feature event.

Jumping into third when the race went green, Cox would find himself chasing after early leader, Tim Kaeding, and second running Ryan Robinson while he still continue to battle a brake issue.

The race’s lone caution came on the 13th lap as leader, Tim Kaeding, came to a stop with a right rear wheel issue. Moving into the second position, Cox would try and make something happen with Robinson on the restart, but it was to no avail as he capped the night with a second place finish.

“Stockotn is one of those places where I seem to run second a lot, and can never seem to get the job done,” Cox said. “It was great to get a full night in and really shake some cob webs off as I get ready to get the season started with C&M Motorsports in a couple of weeks as we battle the ASCS National Tour.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber,  Michael David Winery, Five Window Beer Company, MDW Sports, Cranked Naturals, PM Truck Repair, Justice Brothers, K&N, Konnected, A.R.T., Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, Arai, Racing Optics, All American Powder Coating, VSR, , Tim’s Hot Rod Shop, Shell Shock, Moyle Race Engines, and Richmond Engines for their support in 2020!

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-2, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-2

ON TAP: Cox Racing his back in action on Saturday night as Jesse Love makes his debut as the team heads to Marysville Raceway.
