PETERSEN MEDIA: Justyn Cox turned in another strong performance in Placerville, CA on Saturday night that saw him pick up a quick time award and come away with a second consecutive sixth place finish.

“We had good speed again at Placerville, and the track was pretty tricky after some rain late in the week,” Cox said. “We glazed over our brake pads late in the race and it made it tough to get around and we lost a couple of positions.”

With 30 cars on hand on Saturday night for fan appreciation day, Cox got things kicked off by timing the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex backed No. 31c machine in fastest in time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Cox would put together a nice run that saw him work his way up to a second place finish which qualified him for a berth in the Top-Eight redraw.

Pulling the eight pill again at Placerville Speedway, Cox would grid the field from the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event. With the track a bit more rough than usual, it would prove to be tricky for some though the Clarksburg, CA driver would get it figured out in the early laps.

Getting up to the fourth spot within the first couple of laps, Cox would fall back fifth as eventual race winner, Sean Becker, was able to get by him. Getting his elbows up on the rough and tumble surface, Cox would continue to hold down the fifth spot as he began to fight some brake issues.

Late in the race, a surging Justin Sanders would drop Cox back to the sixth spot where he would go on to take the checkered flag.

“Last week we had issues with our brakes, but Saturday I glazed the pads over,” Cox added. “We have some really good speed right now, and I am looking forward to seeing if we can transfer this speed over to the 410 this weekend.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, Justice Brothers, K&N, LRB, Konnected, A.R.T., Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, EyeLusions, All American Powder Coating, Coos Bay Speedway, Swimming Pool Perfections, Tim’s Hot Rod Shop, Shell Shock, Moyle Race Engines, and Manzer Motorsports for their support in 2017!

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-18, Wins-2, Top 5’s-4, Top 10’s-9

ON TAP: Justyn Cox will be back in action on Friday night in Chico, CA as he will take part in the Tarter Memorial, and is contemplating making the trip to Petaluma on Saturday night to battle with the King of the West Series.
