Justyn Cox Sixth at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking to the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night during the track’s final Placerville Posse Challenge event, Justyn Cox would overcome a slow start to finish in the sixth spot.
“We had a mag go bad on us during time trials, so our night got started off a little slow, but the guys worked at it and we turned it into a pretty good night,” Justyn Cox said.
Timing the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex backed No. 31BC machine in 15th fastest, Cox would advance from his seventh starting position in his heat race to finish in the sixth spot.
“The track was still a little narrow in heat races, so we weren’t able to do much but our car felt a ton better,” Cox added.
Moving into the feature event where he would find himself in the 13th starting spot for the 25-lap feature event, Cox would grow fond of the bottom groove, and work his way well into the Top-10.
As the race moved on, Cox would get near the Top-Five as he would find himself running the seventh spot when the caution flag waived on the 20th lap. A restart with just five laps remaining in the race would see Cox lose a few spots as the inside lane did not take off.
Remaining calm, Cox would pick up the lost spots in the final laps, as he would close his night out with a sixth place finish.
“It was cool to watch the guys go to work, and get our car right,” Cox said. “We were a little puzzled during qualifications because the laps looked and felt good, but there was just no speed. Everyone is getting better at Placerville, so it was good to come from the seventh row and finish sixth.”
The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, LRB, Konnected, Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, JRD Endeavors, VSR, ART, K&N Performance, Justice Brothers, Cheetah IV Racing, E-ST Garage, Worton Designs, Manzer Motorsports, Swimming Pool Perfections, and Tim’s Hot Rod Shop for their support in 2016!
2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-36, Wins-1, Top 5’s-6, Top 10’s-16
ON TAP: Cox will head to the Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night to take part in the Tyler Wolfe Memorial, and race that is one Cox looks forward to year after year.
