Justyn Cox Sixth at Placerville Speedway with C&M Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting in two nights of racing action over the 4th of July Holiday, Justyn Cox and C&M Motorsports with battle mechanical gremlins on Saturday night in Stockton, CA before a sixth place run on Sunday night at Placerville Speedway.

“Big thanks to Cody and Mandy for sticking with me, though the last couple of weeks have been kind of rough,” Justyn Cox said. “We got a motor back, and we are still trying to work some kinks out, and after a struggle on Saturday, Cody made a ton of changes and things seemed to go better for us on Sunday night.”

Spending the 4th of July at Placerville Speedway, Cox would get his night opened up by timing the Berco Redwood/Barry Lumber/Creason Enterprises No. 7c machine timed in 11th fastest in time trials.

Motoring his way to a heat race win, the Clarksburg, CA driver would move into the redraw where the eight-pill lined him up in the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event on a very slick Placerville Speedway surface.

When the race went green, Cox would get shuffled back initially as he slipped back to 10th as he worked on the thick cushion that had built up all the way around the speedway.

Continuing to work the cushion during an extended green flag run, Cox would work his way up into the fifth position as he closed in on the likes of Ryan Robinson and Shane Golobic before the caution flew with just three laps left in the race.

Restarting in fifth, Cox would look to make the middle lane work as he looked to pick up a couple more positions in the final laps, but it would actually allow Sean Becker to sneak by, as Cox slipped back to sixth where he would go on to finish.

Friday night, Cox and the C&M Motorsports crew checked in at the Stockton Dirt Track as they would be in action with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

Timing in fourth quickest in his qualifying group, Cox would finish third in his heat race as they continued to try and get their engine dialed in.

Taking the green flag from the 13th position, Cox would look to get what he could on what was a very heavy and fast surface in the opening stanzas of the race.

Able to pick up a couple of spots over the course of the race, Cox would cap the night with an 11th place finish.

“Saturday night I was kind of in defense mode, as we all racked our brains trying to figure out what our issue was,” Cox added. “Like I said, Cody made a ton of changes and things were much better on Sunday night. We have a couple of weeks off as a team now, and I am looking forward to when we pick back up. Thanks again to Cody and Mandi, as well as to all of our partners.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Barry Lumber, Inc., Lund Construction, Anrak, Creason Enterprises, Legacy Specialties, Inc. PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Cox and C&M Motorsports will be back in action on July 24th at Placerville Speedway.
