PETERSEN MEDIA: Though bad things continue to follow Justyn Cox from one track to another, the Clarksburg, CA driver is bound and determined to work through it.

“It has been a trying month for our team, but we are going to stick with it, and work through the issues,” Justyn Cox said. “Something has got to give soon.”

Saturday night saw the Cox Racing team travel to Antioch, CA to take part in the upstart Sprint Car Challenge Tour’s first ever event. Qualifying in hot lap/heat race groupings, Cox would time his Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex backed No. 31c entry in third fastest in the group which placed him in the second row of his heat race.

In his heat race, Cox would battle for a transfer spot to the feature event but subsequent contact would take him out of competition and for the PM Truck Repair/Justice Brothers/K&N No. 31c sprinter into one of the night’s twin “C” main events.

Grabbing the win his ‘C’, Cox would keep his night alive as he made the call into the ‘B’ main. Lining up 17th in the semi, Cox would avoid an early wreck and quickly gain some much needed track position on the tricky Antioch Speedway.

When the race got going, Cox would quickly grab some more positions until trouble found him on the second slap. With a car spinning in front of him, Cox would make contact and his machine would take a wicked tumble, and his night would come to an abrupt end.

“It was a tough night for our team,” Cox said. “With us not getting out of our heat race, we were forced into the C main, and eventually got into the B. We had good speed, but just got caught in a bad spot early in the semi, and our night ended.”

Wednesday night, Cox and company were also in action at Placerville Speedway, thanks in part to Harley Van Dyke.

After struggling in time trials, Cox and his team opted to turn the rest of the night into a test session as they continue to find a balance on their new GF1 Chassis.

“It was great to run Placerville on Wednesday night, and again I have to thank Harley Van Dyke for making that possible,” Cox added. “We didn’t time in well, so we decided we would try some things on our new GF1 to see if we could find a balance on it.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, Justice Brothers, K&N, LRB, Konnected, A.R.T., Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, EyeLusions, All American Powder Coating, Coos Bay Speedway, Swimming Pool Perfections, Tim’s Hot Rod Shop, Shell Shock, Moyle Race Engines, and Manzer Motorsports for their support in 2017!

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-5, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-1

ON TAP: Cox returns to action on Saturday night in Placerville, CA for the track’s first weekly event of the season.
