Justyn Cox Third in Return to Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Justyn Cox and C&M Motorsports returned to Placerville Speedway Saturday night after missing last week and continued to not miss a beat. With 29 cars on hand, Cox was able to race his way to a third-place finish.
“We went out late in time trials, and really laid down a good lap going out as late as we did,” Cox said. “It didn’t look like it would put us in position to make the redraw later in the night, but things went out way a little.”
Timing the Berco Redwood/Barry Lumber, Inc./Legacy Specialties backed No. 7c in eight fastest in time trials, Cox would either need to win his heat or have a lot of help to make the aforementioned redraw.
In what turned into a wild night for heat races, Cox finished fourth in his and as luck would have it enough things went his way to make him redraw eligible. Pulling the three pill, the Clarksburg, CA driver would roll off the starting grid from the inside of the second row on a freshly groomed racing surface.
When the action came to life, Cox spent much of the first half of the race running in the fourth position as he battled with the likes of Andy Forsberg and Colby Johnson as they waged war on each other around the ¼ mile bullring.
The first restart of the night came on the 13th lap, and it would see Cox slip back to fifth briefly, before re-claiming the fourth spot on the very next restart.
Cox would continue to run in the fourth position in the final green flag run of the night as he chased after Willie Croft who ran third ahead of him. A single file restart with three to go would allow Cox to make a move on Croft to get around him and claim the final spot on the podium.
“It felt great to get back up to Placerville, CA and re unite with C&M Motorsports after spending the previous week racing up in Oregon,” Cox added. “Cody and the guys really gave me a great car in the main, and I feel like we were even better than where we finished, but restarts killed me. Like I said, it was a fun night, and thanks to Cody and Mandi for continuing to want to go racing with my family and I.”
The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Barry Lumber, Inc., Legacy Specialties, Inc., Lund Construction, Anrak, Alturas Tires, Swartz Diesel, PT Shocks, Creason Enterprises, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
