Kaeding 10th With Outlaws At Huset’s Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Competing with the World of Outlaws for three nights last weekend, Tim Kaeding simply acknowledged that he had to improve his qualifying efforts. After a wild two-day stretch between Knoxville, IA and Brandon, SD, Kaeding closed his weekend out with a Top-10 run at the Huset’s Speedway.
“It wasn’t a bad weekend for our team by any means, but I really need to do a better job in time trials, and keep us out of an early hole,” Kaeding said.
Sunday night at the Huset’s Speedway, Kaeding would time the Lunstra Motorsports/Dammer Trucking/Folkens Bros. Trucking No. 3 machine in 13th fastest in qualifying time trials.
Just missing the qualifying inversion, Kaeding would put on an electric show in his heat race as he charged from his fifth starting spot to finish in the second position.
By way of his finish, Kaeding would miss out on the dash, and would line his Sioux Falls Ford/Yager Agriculture Supply/EMI backed machine up in the seventh row for the feature event.
On an extremely slick surface that would put passing at a premium, the San Jose, CA driver was able to pick up a position as he inched towards the Top-10. In the closing laps of the race, Kaeding would take advantage of a tangle amongst the leaders as he took over the 10th spot.
In the closing laps, Kaeding would hit his marks, and end an eventful weekend with a 10th place finish.
Saturday night saw Kaeding and his team take on the World of Outlaws at the Knoxville Raceway. With rain hitting the track just before the Last Chance Qualifier’s took to the track, track officials worked relentlessly to keep the track in racing shape.
When the feature hit the track after 2am local time, a thick fog would roll in, and the race would last 15 laps before being called, and TK would charge his way forward from his 26th starting spot to finish in the 17th spot.
The weekend got underway on Friday night at Crawford County Speedway in Dennison, IA as the World of Outlaws unveiled their two two-flight qualifying format.
Timing in 23rd fastest overall, Kaeding would be ninth overall in his flight, and just miss out on the inversion, as he would start in the fifth position before working his way to a third place finish.
Lining up for the feature in the 17th spot, TK would finish in the 13th position.
“We went forward every night which was great, but we were always in the middle to the rear of the field,” Kaeding added. “That comes back to time trials. I have to be better, and put this team in a better position to win.”
The Lunstra Motorsports team would like to thank Dammer Trucking, Folkens Bros. Trucking, Sioux Falls Ford, Yager Agriculture Supply, EMI, Matt’s Repair, Octane Ink, and Trac2Trail Arctic Cat for their support in 2015.
ON TAP: TK and the Lunstra Motorsports team will be back with the World of Outlaws tonight at Granite City, Friday at River Cities Speedway, before making a decision on where they will race on Saturday night. The team also plans to run at Huset’s Speedway on Sunday night.
