PETERSEN MEDIA- Following a weekend off due to rain in the Midwest, Tim Kaeding and his Lunstra Motorsports team returned to action for a pair of races over the weekend, and it seemed to be déjà vu for the No. 3 car as TK would pick up back to back seventh place finishes.

“We had really good speed both nights, but starting 10th with the drivers in the NSL and at Knoxville makes it really tough to make up a lot of ground,” Kaeding said.

Checking in at the I-80 Speedway on Friday night for the I-80 Dirt Classic with the National Sprint League, Kaeding would start things off by timing the Dammer Trucking/Folkens Bros. Trucking/Mihm Trucking No. 3 machine in 16th fastest.

Picking up a fourth place finish in his first heat race and winning his second heat race, TK was able to make up valuable points and line up in the fifth row for the 25-lap A Main event.

Battling with Brooke Tatnell and Lynton Jeffery during the course of the race, the San Jose, CA driver would stay solidly in the Top-10 as he ran in the eighth spot for much of the race.

With a car further up falling out of the race, Kaeding would take over the seventh spot where he would end up finishing.

Returning to the Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night, TK would time in much better on this night as he would put the Yager Ag Supply/Matt’s Repair/Track2Trail Arctic Cat entry 10th on the speed charts heading into heat races.

Starting and finishing third in his heat, Kaeding would move directly into the 20-lap feature event where he gridded the field from the 10th starting position.

As the race got underway, Kaeding began battling with Dale Blaney as the two veterans jockeyed for position inside the Top-10. Running in the seventh spot after clearing Blaney, he would feel pressure for the spot following a late restart.

Able to fend off Blaney and Craig Dollansky, TK would close his weekend out with his second seventh place finish of the weekend.

“We definitely would have liked to be fighting for wins, but its still really early in the year for this team and were still getting our cars and engines how we want them,” TK added. “I have a great group behind me and we just need to keep racing to get even better, so hopefully the weather cooperates moving forward.”

The Lunstra Motorsports team would like to thank Dammer Trucking, Folkens Bros. Trucking, Mihm Trucking, Yager Agriculture Supply, Matt’s Repair, and Trac2Trail Arctic Cat for their support in 2016.

ON TAP: TK and the Lunstra Motorsports team are still finalizing plans for Fridays’ event, but will for sure be in action on Saturday at the Knoxville Raceway.
