Kaleb Montgomery Gives Dale Miller Motorsports Fifth Win of Season at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Needing a driver to compete at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night with Justin Sanders away at the Knoxville Nationals, Dale Miller again leaned on Templeton, CA’s Kaleb Montgomery and it paid massive dividends as Montgomery gave Miller Motorsports their fifth win of the season as he collected his first career win at the ¼ mile bullring.
“Saturday night was great, and I am very thankful that Dale Miller gave me another opportunity to drive his beauty of a racecar,” Montgomery said. “Growing up the No. 4SA was a staple in victory lane with Greg DeCaires and then with Justin Sanders as of late, so to win in it myself is very cool.”
In his second ever start with Dale Miller Motorsports, Montgomery picked up his second fast time award in the Thompson’s Buick-GMC/Thompson’s Jeep-Ram/Dale Miller Septic Inc. backed No. 4SA.
Setting his night up well, Montgomery would take care of business in heat race competition as he advanced from his fourth starting position and finished second; transferring to the feature event as well as earning a berth into the redraw in part to his qualifying efforts.
With a little luck on his side, Montgomery would pull the one, and set himself up well for the feature event as he led the field to the green flag for the 25-lap fan appreciation night feature event.
On a slick Placerville Speedway surface, Montgomery got the early jump but would immediately feel pressure from Joel Myers Jr.
With Myers Jr taking a couple of shots for the lead, Montgomery was able to fend him off and begin to open his lead up as the back of the field loomed ahead.
Getting into traffic, Montgomery was patient with cars running two-wide in front of him, but this allowed Meyers Jr and Hopkins to close up on him for a brief instance before a caution flag paused the action.
When the action resumed, Montgomery was able to power away from the field as he began to settle in on the thick Placerville Speedway cushion that had built up around the speedway but as the race drew to a close traffic would again come into play.
With thick traffic ahead the checkered flag near, Montgomery would see his lead disappear as he picked his pots wisely. As things heated up, the Templeton, CA driver stayed composed as he was able to race to his first ever win at Placerville Speedway, and give Dale Miller his fifth win of the season in doing so.
“I really had fun in this car at the Forni, and really hoped I would get another chance,” Montgomery said. “Luckily, Justin Sanders had a great opportunity come up to run the Knoxville Nationals, and Dale and Tara thought enough of me to give me the second shot and I am glad it worked out.”
