Kalib Henry 19th at HK Classic; Eyes Mark Forni Classic This Saturday

PETERSEN MEDIA: Though last weekend’s HK Classic didn’t go as Kalib Henry and the McColloch Motorsports team wished, sprits are high for Henry as he looks forward to defending his 2021 Mark Forni Classic win this Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.

“Saturday night in Watsonville, CA was a rough one for our team,” Kalib Henry said. “We missed the inversion in time trials, but we bounced back well and made the feature. Unfortunately, after a good start in the ‘A’, I think we sealed a tire up and couldn’t do much after that.”

With 38 cars taking time on Saturday night with the KWS/NARC Series at the HK Classic, Henry narrowly missed the heat race inversion as he timed the McColloch’s RV Repair/Davis Truck Painting/Driven Homes Inc. backed no. 17 in 17th fastest in time trials.

Lining up in the third row of his heat race, the Mather, CA native turned Rocklin, CA resident looked very strong in heat race competition as he surged his way to a third-place finish and punched his ticket into the feature event.

Gridding the field from the 16th starting spot in the ‘A’, Henry showcased that same speed from his heat race as he quickly carved his way up to 10th when the race’s first caution flag was displayed.

When the race resumed, Henry no longer had that early speed as he was unable to make traction on the slick Ocean Speedway surface. Slowly slipping back through the field, Henry tried everything he could from his seat to salvage the feature.

As the checkered flag flew, Henry brought the McColloch Motorsports entry home with a 19th place finish.

“We had a good start ot the ‘A’, and that tire killed us during the second half of the race,” he added. “I am happy with how things felt, and I am really excited to get back to Placerville Speedway this weekend and defend last year’s Forni win.”

McColloch Motorsports would like to thank McColloch’s RV Repair, Davis Truck Painting, Driven Homes, Inc., ART Speed Equipment, Hansen Machine, Rockstar Services, and Gary Morgan Graphics for their continued support.
