PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking part in the Mac Tiner Tribute at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Kalib Henry and McColloch Motorsports would have a strong run together as Henry tallied an eighth-place finish.
“We had a ton of speed all night long, and it was really the best I have felt in the car all year long,” Kalib Henry said. “We were extremely fast out of the box, and just narrowly missed out on fast time by .005 seconds.”
With 58 cars checked in for what was the final winged sprint car event of the year at Placerville Speedway, Henry timed the McColloch’s RV Repair/Express Sewer and Drain/Davis Truck Painting backed No. 17 in second fastest overall and second fastest in his time trial group.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Henry would slip back just a little as his third-place finish would be good enough to move him directly into the 30-lap feature event, but he would miss out on the spot inside the redraw.
Lining up 10th in the feature event on an extremely slick and wide surface, Henry would find himself battling hard as he jumped into the Top-10 early.
With passing proving to be tough against the stout field of cars, Henry would try a few different tricks to work his way forward.
In a hard fought 30-lap feature event that saw an extended green flag run, Henry would close the night out with an eighth-place finish.
“I have to thank Nick and Kerry McColloch, as well as my Dad for all of their help and hard work on Saturday night,” Henry said. “I’m not sure when we will get back to racing next as the season is winding down, but I am really happy with how fast we have this car.”
