Kalib Henry Gives McColloch Motorsports First Win of Season During Placerville’s Big Trophy Night

PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Kalib Henry used an impressive start to propel himself to victory, a win which bumped him ahead of his father, Mike, on the track’s all time wins list.

“We have kind of been struggling in the 360ci the last few weeks, but Kerry and Nick have been working hard to get us better,” Kalib Henry said. “We struggled in traffic early on Saturday night, but we got better and raced to the win.”

With 27 cars on hand Saturday night, Henry kicked things off by timing the McColloch’s RV Repair and Storage/Davis Truck Painting/Driven Homes Inc. backed No. 17 entry in second fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Mather, CA driver simply needed to finish in the Top-Four to earn a berth in the redraw, but simply cruising to a transfer was never on his mind.

Working his way forward and finishing second, Henry was solidly in the feature event and in doing so, solidified himself in the redraw where the three placed him in the second row of the 25-lap feature event.

Once the green was displayed to the field, Henry was shot out of a cannon as he split the front row and grabbed the race lead as the field rumbled into turns one and two.

Leading the first lap, the green would quickly be replaced with the yellow and the field assembled in double file formation for a restart.

As the green replaced the yellow, Henry continued to showcase a ton of speed as he ripped around the Placerville Speedway fending off the advances of Shane Hopkins as the leaders quickly worked into traffic.

Though getting through traffic would be tricky initially for Henry, a couple of yellows would reset the field and give him clear track.

Continuing to nail his restarts, Henry got better as the race clicked laps off. During the closing stages of the race, the Mather, CA driver was able to carve his way through traffic and give himself enough breathing room to race his way to the win at Placerville Speedway and give the McColloch Motorsports team their first win of the season.

“I was happy with how things went on Saturday night, and we think we can get this car even better,” Henry said. “We dialed the engine in and got the fueling better, and it was really strong.”

McColloch Motorsports would like to thank McColloch’s RV Repair, Davis Truck Painting, Driven Homes, Inc., ART Speed Equipment, Hansen Machine, Rockstar Services, and Gary Morgan Graphics for their continued support.
