PETERSEN MEDIA: Kicking 2020 off with a very successful first trip to Australia, Kalib Henry is poised to get action kicked off in the states as 2020 will see him contest the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour pres. By Abreu Vineyards (SCCT) Championship aboard the McColloch Motorsports No. 17 entry.

“The Australia trip was awesome, and I had a ton of fun traveling and racing all over the country,” Henry said. “Getting back home, I am really looking forward to committing to the SCCT schedule with McColloch Motorsports.”

Fresh off of a strong 2019 season that saw Henry pick up wins with Van Dyke Motorsports, Jensen Motorsports, and McColloch Motorsports, the Mather, CA driver headed to Australia to kick his 2020 season off competing in a car owned by Scott Perritt with help from Trevor Green.

Competing on foreign soil, Henry would adapt quickly as he finished second during his first event at Murray Bridge Speedway, and backed that up by grabbing a win at the iconic Valvoline Raceway in Sydney, AU.

Battling some rare, but much needed, rain during his trip, Henry would pick up a ninth-place finish in Melbourne, before heading to Simpson Speedway for a 360ci event. Going toe to toe with fellow American standouts Tim Kaeding and Tim Shaffer, Henry would get the best of the veteran drivers, as he raced to the win and kicked off a very busy week of racing.

With rain cutting both the King’s Challenge and the President’s Cup short, Henry checked into the Grand Annual Sprint Car Classic in Warrnambool for his last event of his trip.

Getting off to a bit of a slow start in his prelim, Henry would make up a little ground in his heat races and found himself seventh to start the ‘B’ Main. Racing his way through the talent heavy field, Henry’s second place finish transferred him into the preliminary night feature event.

Finishing 10th in the ‘A’, Henry would find himself in the ‘C’ on Sunday night’s finale. Working his way to a transfer into the ‘B’, Henry’s Classic would end with a 10th place finish in the semi, capping a very impressive first trip across the pond.

“I am beyond grateful for the opportunity Trevor Green and Scott Perrit gave me,” Henry said. “Between those two, and my dad, it made for a great trip and really a big moment for my career. We are already in motion of ironing out details for a return trip in 2021.”

Looking to build off the momentum from the AU trip, Henry returns to the seat of the McColloch Motorsports No. 17 machine for an expanded schedule in 2020. Picking up a win with the team in 2019, the team has made the decision to expand their efforts in the year ahead with their main focus being the SCCT title.

Aside from the SCCT schedule, McColloch Motorsports and Henry plan to fill their schedule with a hefty dose of Placerville Speedway on a weekly basis, as well as take part in the array of open shows that California offers at various points of the season.

“As a team I think we have lots of speed, and have proven to be a front runner at events we have been at together,” Henry said. “This season will be filled with some big races, and we will need to be consistent to win the title. Nick McColloch has put in a lot of work to get us ready, and I am really excited to work with him and Kerry McColloch again this season.”

McColloch Motorsports would like to thank McColloch’s RV Repair, Davis Truck Paining, ART Speed Equipment, RE Technologies, Hansen Machine, and Gary Morgan Graphics for their continued support.

ON TAP: McColloch Motorsports is scheduled to kick their 2020 season off when the Lucas Oil ASCS National Series comes to California on March 7th at Merced Speedway, and March 7th at Placerville Speedway, and March 8th at Petaluma Speedway.
