PETERSEN MEDIA: Moving up into the 600 division over the weekend during the California Cup in Lemoore, CA Garth Kasiner would record an eighth place finish on Friday night before fighting through the Saturday night B and finishing 17th in the ‘A’.
Timing the West Hills Oil/Security Race Products/CS9 No. 21G entry in 11th quickest in qualifying time trials on Friday night amongst the 29 cars checked in for the race, Kasiner would pick up a win in his heat race and move into the feature event.
Lining up 11th on the grid, Kasiner would avoid a little trouble that broke out in front of him on the initial start and would pick up a couple of positions because of it.
When the action picked up, the youngster held his own as he would battle with Super 600 standout’s Zane Blanchard and Keith Day Jr. Doing a nice job in his first Super 600 start, Kasiner would turn in some nice laps as he kept his machine inside the Top-10 and finished eighth.
Back in action Saturday night for the CA Cup finale, Kasiner would line up sixth in his heat race. Battling again with Keith Day, Jr and Dean Alexander, Kasiner would take the checkered flag in the sixth position and be forced into the night’s “B” main where a fourth place finish would move him into the feature event.
Starting near the rear of the field as a transfer car, Kasiner would again settle in as he continued to get comfortable with the different engine package in his car for this event. Working the high side of the Lemoore Raceway, Kasiner would find himself in a nice battle with Cody Key and Blanchard as they battle for track position.
In an extended green flag run, the field would spread out and it would let Kasiner move around the speedway and try a few different lines as he continued to get important seat time in the Super 600.
When the checkered flag flew on the weekend, Kasiner would close his night out with a 17th place finish.
