PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night in Stockton, CA Garth Kasiner was able to capture his 97th career feature event win, and his 20th of the season as he claimed the Turkey Bowl at Delta Speedway.
The weekend of racing kicked off on Friday night with heat races and qualifiers setting the stage for Saturday night’s feature event. Kasiner came out of the gate extremely strong, as he was able to pick up the heat race wins aboard the West Hills Oil/CS9/SRP backed No. 21g.
Moving into the 15-lap qualifier, Kasiner again put together a nice run as he battled with Dylan Bloomfield for the win. Coming up just short and finishing second, Kasiner was still in a good spot for Saturday night, as he would put the Roger Vogt’s Performance Auto & Air/Irritec P1 Drop Tape/Keizer Wheels machine on the front row of the feature event.
Falling back to second on the initial start, the yellow flag would fly and give Kasiner another opportunity. Falling to second again, Kasiner would put his right hear on the cushion and chase after the early leader, Caeden Steele.
Continuing to chase after Steele, Kasiner would continue to pound the cushion in turns one and two and work the bottom in three and four as he drew closer to the lead lap after lap.
The caution flag would bunch the leader back up and put Kasiner on Steele’s rear bumper. When the race came back to life, Kasiner was able to surge into the lead, but another caution would negate his pass and put him back in second.
Continuing to run in second after enduring a couple more stoppages, Kasiner would continue to hound the leader until finally an extended green flag run would see him keep his momentum up and race along side the leader for a number of laps until sneaking by in the race’s closing lap.
Steele would challenge Kasiner late, but on this night Kasiner would not be denied as he claimed his 20th win of the season.
