PETERSEN MEDIA: Traveling to beautiful Ventura, CA to take part in the USAC NOW600 Coastal Challenge, Garth Kasiner and his team would pick up a second place finish on the scenic short track.
With a new event bringing a light Restricted 600 Class car count, Kasiner and team would take the chance to try some things on their West hills Oil/SRP/CS9 machine.
Timing in second fastest in qualifying time trials, the Five Points, CA driver would finish third in his heat race as the team continued to tweak on their car.
Lining up third in the feature event, Kasiner would make a quick move in turns one and two on the start of the race to take over the second spot. Running the low side of the speedway, Kasiner would continue to run second as he chased after race leader, Katey Syra.
On the fast surface, the field would get strung out and stay about the same pace as the light car count didn’t allow the leaders to get into traffic. Trying everything he could to make up ground, Kasiner just could simply never get to the leader as he would finish second on this night in what was a fast paced feature event.
