Kerry Madsen Hard Charges At Summer Nationals

PETERSEN MEDIA- Heading East with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series over the weekend, Kerry Madsen and his Keneric Racing team turned in a couple of hard charges that resulted in two Top-10 finishes at the Williams Grove Speedway.
“Overall we ran really well at the Williams Grove Speedway,” Kerry Madsen said. “It is always a technical track, and to come from deep both nights is a pretty strong feat for anyone.”
Kicking the Summer Nationals off on Friday night, Madsen would get his weekend off to a decent start as he timed the Keneric Health Care/Keneric Racing/American Racing backed No. 29 entry in 10th fastest in his time trial group.
Lining up in the third row of his heat race, the St. Marys, NSW driver would finish in the fourth spot and transfer directly into the night’s 25-lap feature event. Though he lined up in the 15th starting position, Madsen showed he had a pretty good car as he worked his way towards the Top-10.
Cracking the Top-10 in the race’s closing laps, Madsen looked for more as he battled with fellow countrymen, James McFadden as well as David Gravel. Madsen would cap his night by getting into the eighth spot and recording his 36th Top-10 of the year.
Returning to the famed ½ mile speedway on Saturday night for the Summer Nationals finale, Madsen would lay down a great lap in time trials that would see him end up fourth fastest in his group.
Forced to make a stop in the LCS following a sixth place finish in his heat race, Madsen’s second place effort would line him up in the 22nd starting spot for the 30-lap Summer Nationals Feature event.
From the back of the pack, ‘The Mad Man’ was exiting as he worked all over the Williams Grove Speedway looking for open real estate. Slicing and dicing his way through a stout field of World of Outlaws regulars and PA Posse members, Madsen turned in a brilliant performance that saw him bring his machine home with a ninth place finish and earn KSE Hard Charger Honors.
“To come forward like we did on Saturday night is pretty special,” Madsen said. “There was no slouches in that feature event, and we had an awesome racecar. Huge thanks to my guys, Pete and Bob Gavranich, and all of our partners who helps us do what we do.”
