Kerry Madsen Nets Pair of Top-5’s on Hall of Fame Saturday

PETERSEN MEDIA- Following Dennis Roth’s enshrinement into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame Saturday afternoon, Kerry Madsen had a solid outing Saturday night as he charged from eighth to fourth during Saturday’s regularly scheduled feature, and promptly followed that up with a run from eighth to third during the opening night make-up feature that was also ran.

“It was great to celebrate Dennis and Teresa Roth’s accomplishments on Saturday afternoon, and when we got to racing, I thought it was a pretty good night for our team as we had two strong runs from eight,” Kerry Madsen said.

Timing the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Toyota backed NO. 83Jr entry in second fastest in time trials amongst the 35 cars checked in for a night of racing on Saturday, the St. Marys, NSW native would then work his way forward to tally a third-place finish in his heat.

Sitting as the nightly high points earner, the vaunted eight inversion pill would be drawn and it lined Madsen up outside of the fourth row for the 20-lap feature event.

After a shower drenched the area, a bit of delay as officials re-worked the ½ mile surface led to very fast track conditions in the first feature event of the night.

Following a pair of red flags to open the feature, once things settled down the 20-lap race would click off without stoppage. Making some daring moves on the fast surface, Madsen would show speed as he worked the cushion and worked his way around the bottom.

Running in fifth, a late move around Rico Abreu would give him a fourth-place feature in what was the regularly scheduled feature event.

Returning to the pit area and debriefing with the Roth Motorsports team during the 360ci feature, Madsen and company would make a few adjustments as they prepared for the second 20-lap feature event where he again lined up in the fourth row.

A great start saw ‘The Mad Man’ quickly work his way up into fifth as he then got by Austin McCarl and Lynton Jeffry to overtake third.

With a couple of cautions slowing the race, Madsen would pressure Brian Brown on a pair of occasions for second but would be unable to complete the pass as he finished the night off with a third-place finish.

“We have made a few changes and I think we are figuring things out and showing a lot of speed,” Madsen said. “We have been good at Knoxville, and with the Outlaws coming in this weekend, it will be a good test to see where we are. Thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth for always giving us the tools to win.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Toyota, TRD, Jason, Tara, And Cole Roth Cattle Co., Roth Investments, Speedway Engines, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Vahlco Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Smith Titanium for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-16, Wins-0, Top 5’s-6, Top-10’s-11
