Kerry Madsen Opens Season with Runner Up Finish in Hanford, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night, Kerry Madsen and the Roth Motorsports team kicked their 2022 season off during the Dave Helm Memorial, though the team raced with a heavy heart with longtime friend and supporter Tom Reitz passing earlier in the week.
“Overall, it was a really good first night out, and I have to thank Dennis and Teresa Roth for such a great opportunity this year,” Kerry Madsen said. “We came right out with quick time so that was great to know that our Toyota/TRD engine runs really strong.”
Lining up fourth in his heat race, the St Marys, NSW native would pick up a position as his third-place finish would move him into the Dash.
Finishing fourth in the Dash, the inversion would end up placing ‘The Madman’ on the pole of the 30-lap feature event.
Slipping back to second when the initial green flag was displayed, the red flag would be needed, and it would negate the initial start.
The second start saw Madsen get the jump heading into the first set of turns, but Carson Macedo would get by him as the lead duo ran through turns three and four. Running in second, Madsen would keep pace with Macedo as the leaders quickly reeled in the back of the field on a very fast racing surface.
Getting into traffic, Madsen would erase the advantage Macedo had built up and took over the race lead on the 13th lap but battling in traffic Macedo would take the top spot back a half of a lap later.
Despite losing the top spot, Madsen would continue to give Macedo all he could handle as the flirted with the race lead for the next handful of laps. As the leaders got through traffic, Macedo would open his lead back up and Madsen would be unable to track him back down.
When the first checkered flag of the season flew, Madsen was able to bring the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co. backed entry home with a second-place finish.
“We had a great battle for the lead in the middle stages of the race, but I just couldn’t hang on to it and we finished second,” Madsen said. “It was a pretty solid night, and I am looking forward to heading to Tulare, CA and battling the Outlaws in a couple of weeks.”
The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Jason, Tara, And Cole Roth Cattle Co., Roth Investments, Speedway Engines, Toyota, TRD, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Vahlco Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Smith Titanium for their support.
