PETERSEN MEDIA- Kerry Madsen’s 2015 World of Outlaws campaign came to a close over the weekend in Charlotte, NC, and after a violent crash during the semi on Friday night ‘The Mad Man’ was able to pick up finishes of 11th and 13th.

“I was really proud of the entire American Racing/Keneric Racing team on Friday night,” Madsen said. “We had a massive crash in the B, and we were able to get the spare car down, and put together a strong showing in the feature event.”

During Thursday night’s qualifying time trial session, Madsen would set quick time in his flight for the Friday night program aboard and sixth fastest for the Saturday night program aboard the American Racing Custom Wheels backed No. 29 machine.

With weather in the area all week long, Friday night’s surface was tricky as the track stayed fast and narrow early in the night. Lining up third in his heat race, Madsen would finish in the fourth spot and be forced into the night’s B Main.

In the B, Madsen was experience a parts failure and it would result in him taking a violent crash into the turn three and four wall. With the car destroyed, the St. Marys, NSW pilot escaped uninjured and jogged back to the pit area as his team went to work getting the back up car down.

Able to get the back up ready to roll, Madsen would take a World of Outlaws provisional and line the Keneric Racing/American Racing entry up 25th on the grid for the 25-lap feature event.

Avoiding some of the carnage in the wild A Main, Madsen would work his way forward and turn what looked to be a tough night into a positive by way of an 11th place finish.

With rain pushing Saturday’s scheduled finale back to Sunday, Madsen would win his final heat race of the year, and earn a spot in the night’s Dash.

Finishing in the seventh spot, Madsen would like the American Racing Custom Wheels entry up in the fourth row for the final feature event of the 2015 season. An extremely slick track would see ‘The Mad Man’ run inside the Top-10 much of the race, but a few late restarts would hamper him as he would close his season out with a 13th place finish, putting him fifth in the final series standings.

“It was not the year we were hoping for, but we had some great people stand behind us, and continue to support us which we all appreciated,” Madsen added. “I cannot thank the Gavranich family, and the American Racing Custom Wheels team enough for what they do for us. We are already busy preparing for 2016.”

2015 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-96, Wins-7, Top-5’s-43, Top 10’s-75
