Kerry Madsen Set To Defend Ironman 55 Title

PETERSEN MEDIA- A wet week in Canada has Kerry Madsen and his Keneric Racing/American Racing team set to defend their Ironman 55 title at the Federated Auto Parts I-55 Speedway in Pevely, MO this Friday and Saturday night.
“We had two of our three scheduled races in Canada get rained out, so we did what we could to get even more prepared for the Ironman 55 race,” Kerry Madsen said.
Though they were able to get one night of racing in North of the Border last week, Kerry Madsen and his team were disappointed with their results after having such a strong start to the feature event at the Ohsweken Speedway on Tuesday night.
“It was crazy,” Madsen said. “We sealed a right rear tire, and we went from contending for the win, to falling out of the Top-10 in the blink of an eye.”
Timing the Keneric Racing/American Racing No. 29 machine in quickest during qualifying time trials, the St. Marys, NSW pilot would move into the Dash after finishing fifth in his heat race.
A fourth place effort in the Dash would put Madsen in the second row of the feature event. When the race got started, Madsen quickly became a player in the race for the lead as he hooked up in a battle with Brad Sweet and Donny Schatz as they raced around the extremely slick Ohsweken Speedway. Getting as high as the second spot early in the race, Madsen would have a tire seal up during a caution period and would go the wrong direction on a restart, as he ended up finishing 11th.
With Friday and Saturday night’s events getting rained out, the team has had even more time to focus on a big two-week span that kicks off this Friday and Saturday night.
“We were awesome during Ironman weekend last year, and we would love nothing more than to pick up the win again this year for Keneric Racing, American Racing and all of our product supporters,” Madsen said. “This weekend kicks off one of the biggest stretches of the year, and I feel confident we will do well, and make everyone associated with this team very proud.”
2015 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-69, Wins-6, Top-5’s-34, Top 10’s-58
ON TAP: Madsen and the Keneric Racing/American Racing team take to the Federated Auto Parts I-55 Speedway this Friday and Saturday night for the Annual Ironman 55 weekend.
