Kerry Madsen Sixth at Bristol Bash

PETERSEN MEDIA- Make the decision late last week to head to Bristol, TN with questionable weather in Knoxville, IA, Kerry Madsen and the Roth Motorsports team ran well against the World of Outlaws as the Australian native finished sixth during Saturday’s Bristol Bash finale.
“Honestly, we were really good all weekend, but track position was just crucial,” Kerry Madsen said. “The only blemish to Saturday night really was just our Dash draw.”
Taking part in two nights of action with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’, Madsen got Friday night started by timing the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co. backed No. 83JR entry in ninth fastest in qualifications.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, passing would prove to be quite the task with the speeds that the dirt covered Bristol Motor Speedway provided all weekend long. Finishing fourth in his heat, ‘The Mad Man’ would move into the feature event and take the green flag from the 12th starting position.
From the sixth row, Madsen would go to work as he spent most of the feature event chasing after teammate James McFadden and Brad Sweet. Able to get by McFadden, Madsen would vie for position in the Top-10, but would come up short as he couldn’t get past Sweet as he settled for the 11th spot.
Returning to action on Saturday night for the $25,000-to-win finale, Madsen would flex his muscle early with his Toyota power under the hood as he timed in third fastest in time trials.
Lining up on the pole of his heat race, Madsen would get the jump and never look back. Picking up the win over David Gravel, Madsen would move into the DirtVision Fast Pass Dash where the six-pill then lined him up in the third row of the shootout.
Finishing sixth, Madsen would take the green flag for the feature event from the third row where he would find himself on the outside of the Top-Five for the duration of the race. Chasing after David Gravel for fifth, passing opportunities would continue to be prime at Bristol and he would be unable to make his way into fifth.
Turning in some extremely strong slaps inside the famed colosseum, Madsen would cap the weekend off with a sixth-place finish.
“Big thanks to the Roth Motorsports team for allowing us to change our schedule and make sure we were able to get a couple of races in,” Kerry Madsen added. “Thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth for their love of this sport and the continued support, and Paul and Gravy for their hard work. We are getting better and I think our first win together is around the corner.”
The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Jason, Tara, And Cole Roth Cattle Co., Roth Investments, Speedway Engines, Toyota, TRD, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Vahlco Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Smith Titanium for their support.
